Weather conditions, particularly cold temperatures have a significant impact on mpg. I can get as high as 74 - 78 mpg in the summer and as low as 62 - 64mpg in cold weather conditions. How the car is being driven can also affect mpg. The type of terrain can affect mpg and other factors such as load carried tyres and tyre pressure etc. Happy Motoring 😊

Hi Frank,There could be a few reasons why your mpg has dropped, the oxygen sensor is responsible for measuring the amount of oxygen in the exhaust. A faulty sensor can cause the engine to run rich, using too much fuel.

A dirty air filter can restrict airflow to the engine, which can also cause the engine to run rich.

Rapid acceleration, sudden braking, and high speeds can all lower It as well

Short trips, especially in cold weather, can also lower mpg because the engine doesn't have enough time to fully warm up.
