Battery Self Discharging - Need wiring Diagram

Our 1999 face lift RAV4 has an issue of Battery drain, 0.25amp continuous.

I have pinned it down to the 10amp 'DOME' fuse in the under bonnet fuse block.

I need a wiring diagram to trace out the connectors and components to isolate the fault.

I have a pre-face lift wiring diagram, but the connectors and pin outs are different, so any help would be appreciated to find a face lift wiring diagram.

No wiring diagram but you are looking at a draw of only just 3 watts and I would expect a slight current draw anyway so you are probably looking for a around a 2w/0.16a draw. Doe's the car have any non OEM extras? If it has I would start there, incorrectly connected or faulty radio or an energised relay would give you this degree of discharge.

Again, no wiring diagram but there are numerous sites indicating which fuse control which components. The DOME fuse controls: Clock, personal light, interior lights, air conditioning system, wireless remote control system, headlight high beam indicator light, gauges and meters.

The clock will, obviously, draw a small current continuously. The personal light and interior lights seem the most likely culprit - either because one has been left on or because there is a partial 'short' somewhere around the switches or connectors.

Thanks for all the replies to date.

Couple of points:

  • With the dome fuse removed the main bean indicator, clock, radio etc still work.
  • Only seems to affect the interior lights which are LED lamps, need to try removing these in turn.
  • Pulling the fuse does not make any relay click, but will try pulling them all in turn.

Those most certainly won't be OEM. Did you fit them or was that a previous owner? A possible culprit perhaps?

Hi,

The LEDs are just replacement festoon bulbs, but will remove and see what happens.

Cheers
