my 23 TS 1.8 is currently showing 6.7L/100km   42MPG, mostly short drives.

Yup them short start stop stuff kills your mpg, interesting enough the 2.0 does a strange warm up cycle of sorts every time you start the car even if you just switch off for 1 minute, I've found if I don't turn the car off between jobs (taxi driver) and just turn off heater so car doesn't restart itself I'm doing nearly 7mpg more than I was switching off car.

the best i have seen on my car is 4.5L /100km.  61MPG that was on a 260km motorway drive.  a standard petrol car would probably  give similar MPG for the driving i do.

My corolla 2.0 ts is in for a minor repair and insurance company has loaned me a kia exceed phev.

Although not as refined as Toyota (6 speed gearbox with electric motor on outside) it is very economical and easily beats my corolla in economy stakes.

Running in hybrid mode returns 67-70 without trying and if you run with the big battery too 75+

I’ve done around 2500 miles in my 2.0 TS and average 55 mpg with about 75% dual carriage way 25% country A/B roads.  My last Octavia 2.0 Tdi averaged high 50’s but in any start stop traffic the hybrid wipes the floor compared to diesel.  Diesel pump prices are higher and more volatile as well, last year I remember £1.80/L for diesel and £1.50 for petrol.
