Well it happened again. My bonnet release cable has failed again no tension on the handle when pulled.  So i assume the clip has failed on the latch. When i got under this is all i have access to. Any idea on how to open the bonnet ive tried pulling that lever down, up and side to side but nothing. 20240413_133222.thumb.jpg.26ee2270919afd1fda09648c46cbf9ee.jpg

Hi Matt, there might be a way to manually release the bonnet latch from underneath the car. Look for a small lever or mechanism near the front grille area, close to where the bonnet latch is located. It might be a bit tricky to find, but with some careful searching, you should be able to locate it. Once you find it, try manipulating it by hand to release the bonnet. If you are still having trouble have a look to see If the grille has large enough openings and you can see the latch mechanism, you might be able to use a hooked coat hanger to reach and manipulate the latch directly. Be very careful not to damage any surrounding bits.

This method should be a last resort as it might cause minor damage to the emblem and surrounding area. Some Aygo models have emblems secured with screws. If accessible, carefully remove the emblem to expose the latch or the cable attachment point. You might then be able to access the cable or the latch itself for manual manipulation.Hope this helps.

Hi Matty,

Read your post and found this doing a google search, link posted below:-

I do realise the aygo and C1 have different fronts but the basics should still apply.

There is also a youtube video I found for the Mk1 Aygo but seems a bit of overkill in damaging the grill so much, link below:-

I think the same could be achieved using a long screwdriver or steel rod feed through the grill opening with the help of a decent flashlight to see behind the grill.
