Wondered if anyone else has had the following issue with their 2021 Corolla Hatch (2.0 GR Sport)?

Came from work, drove about seven miles and stopped at a shop. In there for about five minutes, came out and the car would not re-start!. The Battery light was on, the steering wheel wouldn't move. I had a message on the dash to say the car was not ready to start and that I needed to hold the key fob against the START push button. It started with no trouble after about three attempts.

Is this a noted thing for this model and / or something I should be aware of for a future issue?

Thanks

Possibly the Battery in the key fob? They usually last about 2 years and pot luck if the dealer changes at a service.

Hmm, my keyfob Battery hasn't been changed since I got the car and is still fine; I have 3 of them spare in the car now!

If the remote central locking and keyless entry worked the power cell should be fine.

One possibility is interference - There have been a few cases of thieves jamming remote locking signals in car parks so people just walk off without realizing they haven't locked their cars, but there are also other sources of interference which can inadvertently affect the wireless signals.

At the last 2 main dealer services the key fab Battery has been changed.
At the last service they also put a new “Toyota” sealed bagged one for the second fob.

I’ve never had that with any other car. I usually lock the fob so I don’t think the Battery ever gets low but it’s nice to know the main dealer still changes them as a matter of course.
