I downloaded the full handbook before buying our Corolla, but as I don't have a portable PC it was difficult to remember all the many features when I was in the car. So I bought the handbook (£35.70) and it is well worth the expense. I can now sit in the car and set the many features to personalise the car to my preferences. One feature which interests me is the adaptive headlight system (AHS). I assume that it is not fitted to our Corolla as we have the automatic high beam option, but on occasions when driving at night the high beam light did not go off, but I wasn't flashed by oncoming drivers. The AHS seems much like the matrix headlights fitted to some cars, which shades the area facing the oncoming vehicle but continues to light up the left and right sides. Does anyone have this feature fitted to a Corolla?

Is your Corolla an Excel? If so it'll have the matrix headlight (AHS in Toyota speak).

If it's any other trim, it'll be the basic automatic high beam system.

In the 'Is it an eCVT or CVT' thread, I said that it would be helpful to have a tachometer to see what's going on as drive changes between the MG and ICE. Thanks to the handbook, I've now displayed the tachometer on the left hand display. My interest is that in the absence of belts and cones for the eCVT and drive being shared between the ICE and MG via the planetary geubikt, how do the engine revs behave under soft and hard acceleration, since conventional gear changes to match engine revs to speed aren't there. I continue to recommend the full handbook since I've found several features not stated in the basic handbook supplied with the car.

Soft acceleration - The engine will run at the most efficient rpm (~2000rpm on my Yaris, can't remember for the Corolla) the whole time. Very quiet.

Hard/Max acceleration - Engine will rev to the peak power rpm until the desired speed is achieved; Noisy.

Hi David,

I have the AHS on my corolla excel (facelift). there is no specific button to activate it. As i have the auto headlights selected (left hand stalk) and auto high beam button (lower right of dashboard) activated all the time the AHS comes on when your headlights come on.

I believe AHC is also fitted to GR Sport Touring (as stated in this article) https://mag.toyota.co.uk/2023-toyota-corolla/

hope this helps
