Hello, I purchased an Android radio and a rear camera with a Trigger cable. I'm still waiting for the goods to arrive. Does anyone have experience (ideally a video) how to connect the cables to this Hatchback version? Where to lead the cable from the rear return? Is the reverse cable somehow marked and can I find it somewhere under the seat or do I have to connect the cable directly to the light? And where to lead the cable from the light to the trunk lid? Thanks :)

Hi,

We did this conversion last year and you need to be aware of a few things.

First is the 2 din bezel for the new head unit, there are two variants, seems the cheaper far east head units can be a different size to the big name makers, whats yours ?  Its only a small difference but only the right one will fit and we had to wait for the right one from China that fits the Corolla.

Again depending on what included in your kit you might need to buy or modify your new or even the original mounting frame/cage to get a good even fit.  You need to do a few Dry fits before locking it all in.

The existing  Toyota wiring has a cable to provide the Reversing engaged signal.  You can buy adapter cables/plugs fro the whole radio wiring loom  but you may still need to do the odd calbe joint /splice.

The actual camera that came with our kit was a cubed shaped one which would look silly, so we got one of the 45degree ones and mounted that just by the number  plate lamp.

The Cable run is fairly obvious , just tucked under the door/carpet surround and then  taken up above the rear wheel arch/pillar  and  just managed to thread it through the rubber cable conduit at the top left hand side of the hatch.

Did not do a video etc of it, easily done with a bit of patience and time.

Think once you have all the parts, it will become more obvious what to do.

Forgot to say - when removing / unbolting or refitting the head unit/cage put a towell or similar cloth over the exposed gear lever tunnel as the 4 bolts can too easliy drop down and get lost /stuck !

Think you would be better waiting until your parts arrived as typically all the cameras connections are made at the radio end.

Hopefully it comes with wiring details that  show how its done,

Also you might want to google for a wiring /connection diagram for your existing radio unit so you know what wires to swap over, includng your steering wheel  volume controls.

examlple but yours may be different ?
