Looking for some advice, brake fluid on Phev needs to be topped up and looking at manual suggests DOT 3 or 4 options unless I miss read. This feels wrong to mix as if I recall correctly it’s best not to mix fluid types or am I simply out of touch.

any suggestions/ recommendations from those more in the know

That is surely a standard service item? Your dealer should address at the next service ...

Two services back the dealer topped-up the brake fluid as part of the service plan - i.e. at no additional cost to me - using DOT 5.1

Dot 3, Dot 4 and Dot5.1 can be mixed but Dot 5 it’s  a silicone based and can not be mixed with all 3 above. Top up brake fluid often is not need because the level with brake pads wear will go down little bit. When you at min level perhaps it will be the time to replace brake parts and so you can do new brake fluid too. Also hybrids has not two but three level checks., minimum, maximum and middle when the car is ON and the brake system is pressurised.  Some people may get confused readings  about fluid level.
