Hi.

I hope someone here can please help me.  I have a 2008 plate RAV4 2.2 D4D and from the factory, it came with a 58827 (86120-42220) head unit with steering wheel controls, iPod plug and bluetooth for calls.

As it has started playing up, I have found a replacement... it's a model 59029 (86140-0W010)

Whilst it all fits physically, I have far more plugs on the rear of the 59029 and I am not sure what is supposed to be plugged into what and I also do not appear to have is anywhere for the standard aerial lead to go.

I have guessed that A, B, C & D on the 58827 will go to A, B, C & D on the 59029

I also think that x on the bottom unit of the 59029 goes to y & z on the top main unit of the 59029 - but I don't know what sort of cable I need for this or where to get it from! 😞

I am also not sure what the entire bottom module is for as it is a separate module bolted to the main head unit... Any advice here would be great also, if anyone has a PDF version of the handbook that would be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks

it depends if you want to use the sat nav (module bolted to the bottom)

what you have  is a Toyota Touch and go

A and B  go to A and B the gray plug between B and C is USB

Y is for the rear camera

C and D connect to X (missing cable)

your old radio uses a 20-pin connector the touch uses a 28-pin connector

Thanks.

So... first question is... will this even work?  If my existing radio uses a 20pin plug and the new one uses a 28pin connector, can I get an adaptor. (I did call Toyota before buying and they said it was a simple swap!)

Also, do you know where I can get the cable for  'C and D connect to X (missing cable)'?

Many Thanks

you will not get anything off the shelf, you will have to make your own adapter, and the nav cables are expensive from Toyota but you can use it without the nav connected (that nav is very outdated now)

have a look behind the radio sometimes you get extra connectors tucked down the back (you may find a grey 5 pin connector with 3 wires)

you can use the radio by plugging in A and B but you will need the 24 or 28-pin connector for the Mic (Bluetooth), audio controls, reverse and hand brake

Brilliant.  Thank you.  I will have a dig around at the weekend.

Just thought... Would you know the connector names and pin outs so I can buy the stuff and make myself?

no problem there i have pinouts

the simple way to do it de-pin the wires from the 20-pin connector and put them in a 24/28 pin housing

28 pin housing 90980-12555 (NH series connector either Yazaki or Sumitomo)

there a various other ways to do it

Thanks.  I will buy a 28pin connector.

Whilst buying (to save on shipping as I can only get them from America)... Is it worth me buying the connectors needed to make the missing cable (to get full NAV working)?  Do you happen to have the part numbers for these plugs and do you also have the pinouts for that cable as well?

Many Thanks

i tried sourcing the connectors before the one you labelled X is ultra hard to get, but you can get knock-off connectors on the likes of Aliexpress

eg. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006494413031.html

nav cable - 86842-YY010

a trip to a breaker may be in order the nav cable can be found in most Toyota's 2011-14 (yaris, auris, avensis, rav4, Hilux and many others)
