New Member, New Car (sort of), Old Question

Hello all,

Newbie with an old question:

I’ve picked up a 2008 Avensis and it comes with the sat nav head unit, but I would really like to upgrade to bluetooth for my phone and USB for music. Reading around, I’ve already seen how I remove the head unit, but I have seen some crazy prices for a new replacement unit at £259.

I don’t mind losing the sat nav and just getting a simple radio with bluetooth, USB, and DAB. Can anyone point me to an easy to install and more affordable plug and play  unit they’d recommend?

Many thanks indeed.

£250 it’s not a crazy price for double din headunit with built in usb, bluetooth, or android auto and Apple car play. Check Halfords they offer some options. If you after a quality music avoid cheap Chinese brands of Aliexpress.

You can buy a bluetooth adapter that plugs into the CD changer port at the rear of the head unit, but you need to make sure the adapter will work with your unit even though it is Toyota! Some will state a special cable may be needed for the 'Nav' versions. Connects2 is one brand to look at.
I have a later Mk3 T27 Tourer with a standard CD/radio head unit (no satnav), with basic bluetooth for phone calls, but no music streaming. Here are some of my posts and posts from others. It will be far cheaper.

I am currently using the Wefa adapter and it works the best for me. It is far cheaper than replacing the whole head unit and getting the associated mounting kit and cables. Just plug and play! You may the choice if you want to replace your head unit.
