I am interested in buying an old shape CH-R 2022-2023 model

Can anyone tell me if the suspension was stiffened on the GR Sport version vs the Excel model?

I am aware that the GR has 19” wheels compared to the 18” on the Excel

Yes the GR Sport versions have slightly stiffer suspension compared to an Excel.

Having driven both I prefer the GR Sport.

That’s great thanks for the info

Would you also know if the Excel has LED headlights?

The Excel & GR Sport of this era both had LED adaptive headlights fitted.

Basically at the time Excel was the top luxury spec where the GR Sport was a sports styling spec with the suspension & steering tweaks.

Main differences between the two specs being the following.

Excel had a standard heated steering wheel ( this was removed later on during 2023 ) plus electric drivers seat adjustment.

Excel also had available an optional JBL 9 speaker audio system with subwoofer in boot.

GR Sport as standard had manual cloth seats - you needed to upgrade to the optional Alcantara pack to gain the electric drivers seat adjustment.

To get the optional JBL 9 speaker audio system you also needed to spec the Alcantara pack - you cannot have JBL on a GR Sport without Alcantara.

Thank you for the information Philip

Is there much difference, mpg wise, between the 1.8L vs the 2.0L.  The GR Sport I drove was the 2.0L and it was a lot nippier than my 1.8 Prius

Well, yes ... the 1.8 is built for economy, while the 2.0 is built for 'fun'. The 1.8 gets to 0-62 mph in 11.0 seconds; the 2.0 in 8.2 seconds. The 1.8 returns 53.3-57.6 mpg; the 2.0 returns 49.6-53.3 mpg (WLTP figures).

The boot capacity on the 1.8 is also larger - unless it has had a space saver spare wheel retrofitted.
