Turning Japanese

Just picked up the Corolla 1.8 hybrid 2022. All the menus are in Japanese. Managed to find English in the dash. But the car Speakers to me in Japanese. 
 

Also if the subscription to maps has expired can you use the nav at all as I seem locked out, and is in Japanese

Johnny, in the centre light cluster,  there is an. SOS button.  When you switch on it goes Red and should then go Green, does it?

It sounds like you have an imported JDM one instead of a euro one...?

Usually with Japanese Domestic Market vehicles (grey imports) the head units are different to European spec ones. Doubt whether the European mapping updates will work. With grey imports of other models, most owners end up replacing the head units.

the DCM (sos) will not work, the radio even in english will not work correctly and it can not be updated to euro spec, the same goes for the sat nav it is Japan only it will not update with euro maps (firmware/model locked)

 

get yourself a UK radio there are plenty around

Johnny has yet to respond but the issue is similar to that reported by two Cypriots a few weeks back.

Not yet, though Government is looking at how the MOT needs changing in light of the increased safety systems being mandatory introduced.
