I can't be sure, but I think they were fitted with the same shocks as the ST162.

Quite a few Gen' 4 owners have fitted coilovers because of the difficulty in finding replacements.

Just for info', the standard shocks were made by KYB (Kayaba).

Thanks for the quick response, I’ve tried to keep original on the car, my local motor factors supplied me with these but are incorrect as you can see. All help greatly appreciated. I love the car but parts are so difficult to source.

Just had a look a the KYB catalogue.

There are two versions of the front shocks:

  • 365058 - M48 x 1.0mm
  • 365068 - M48 x 1.5mm

The rears, which you're having problems with, are:

  • 334006 - Right
  • 334007 - Left

Both are showing as "No longer deliverable by the manufacturer".

Sadly, no information for the GT4 at all, just the 162 so I'm hoping they both use the same parts.

The guys at celica-club.co.uk would love to see and hear more about your car, perhaps you could post there as well.

  • 2 weeks later...

Hi, I own a Celica ST162, 1988. Both rear shocks went out of work 2 years ago. I spent 4-5 month in contacting every supplier in Europe and also Japan. Some promised to have them in stock but when it came to delivery only excuses.  It all ended up that I found two shocks in good shape in a scrap yard. Next time we will probably buy 2 others and make some mechanical changes to fit the ST 162.
