Just wondering, if theres any downside to removing the cat, i believe there are 2 lambda sensors on the system, one before and one after the cat, will it throw up an error code??

some de cat pipes come with pipes for the sensors to sit into , so you dont lose em  took mine off me celica , didnt gain that much more power and car seems to run rich now.

as far as i am aware, if it is the new shape then i believe they have a 3 cat system in them.

right nightmare.....

did think about removing them on mine but having to have a manifold made up, or at least a pair of new down pipes aswell as the main cat bypass pipe i gave it up as a bad idea.

Why would you want to remove the catalyst?

More power? modern catalysts do not "cost" much in power <3-5%

They have a small effect on response, but in a heavy vehicle very difficult to feel

More likely to lose mid-range torque due to tuned pulsation effects in the exhaust system.

And they do actually keep you from filling the atmosphere with nasty gases :D
