Did you try your nearest Toyota dealer?

You are right, the shield is made of aluminium and it is attached to the car with steel nuts. When you add water you get galvanic corrosion between the two metals. As the less noble of the two metals, aluminium acts as the anode, is sacrificed and corrodes.

The only way to prevent this is to electrically isolate the two metals or never get them wet. The first option is clearly the more practical. You can paint the heat shield around the holes with a thick, high temperature tolerant paint.

As Graeme said - you get new heat shields from your Toyota dealer. This is a common problem.

Hi I had the same problem but managed to repair it with 40mm stainless washers and rubber washers behind them to cover the holes,I glued on the difficult one above the exhaust to hold it in place to be able to get the nut back on(I also replaced all the nuts with stainless steel ones)

Soeley did a thread some years ago,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Yes, they are not cheap. It's a complex shape made from two sheets of pressed aluminium. It won't be much cheaper elsewhere.

If you are handy, or know someone who can help you, you can put the old one back. Paint the area around holes with heat resistant paint on both sides. Let it dry and then again use the same paint to 'glue' some washers to the painted area. This insulates the washers from the aluminium and stabilises the corroded aluminium. I have successfully used POR15 anti corrosion paint. It is super strong, tolerates pretty high temperatures and lasts. Shields I repaired many years ago are still like the day I repaired them.

Hi APS

many thanks for the advice

I’ll have to do this soon as possible I can’t afford splashing out £142 on some tin lol 😜 I have to put my diy skills to work.

*APS REALLY APPRECIATE THE ADVICE*
