Bit of an update, problem still ongoing but have been living with it, but the rear near side door has now stopped unlocking and can’t be opened from the inside or the outside prompting me to go back to the dealer.

Car has been in the dealership for two full days, received a call late afternoon to say “they are struggling to find what’s wrong” they have been in touch with Toyota GB who also have no idea other to swop over various components one at a time until it resolves the problem.

So no idea when I will get my car back but fingers crossed when I do everything is working as it should.

****. That's no good. Must be really frustrating. Could be something fishing in the wiring like a bad connection somewhere? They won't find that by swapping out parts but they should start with that. If no avail then they need to do some resistance checks on the wiring?

Last time it was in they said that they’d plugged it in and there were no fault codes, which shows how dependent they have become on fault codes instead of good old fault finding.

Anyway, day 3 without it (it’s already been in for 3 days previously with the same issue) hopefully it will get resolved this time.

The problem with these people is also that they are not prepared to let a technician spend time playing around trying to find dodgy electrical connections ect. So if it doesn't show up as a fault on the computer then they just give up. And it is the customer who is left with this problem. I am currently going through an issue with my Rav where it suddenly won't go into ready mode which has resulted in a tow to the dealers twice within 2 weeks now. When they get around to looking at the car it starts and there are no faults showing.Where does that leave me 🤷🏻🤷🏻🤷🏻

I’ve got the issues on video and will give the dealer the opportunity to fix it, next step will be an email to Toyota GB with videos attached asking them if is acceptable to have to live with these issues asking them to intervene.

Yes, you are dead right, it's the only way to get a result sometimes. Stir up the hornets nest a bit.Shouldn't have to but you can't go on like this can you. Getting very close myself to be honest.

OK, picked it up this morning they have apparently replaced the “control unit”, so far the signs are promising and the car is unlocking as it should.

The service manager has been very helpful and said if the problem persists then bring it back and we’ll get to the bottom of it, so its fingers crossed 🤞.

Also he mentioned the tracker and has put an order in for me.

That sounds promising. Fingers crossed this solves it for you. It's a lot of hassle and stress. Disruptive.

So if not the control unit, and the actuators are all good, functioning and aligned, then it could be a wiring or connector issue.

Hopefully though this is the last of it.

Slight Segway but I was washing bird **** from what must have been a pterodactyl that was all down the drivers window, and in the gaps, and every time any water went on the door handle the car would lock or unlock. Back and forth. May last R4P did not do this even in the jetwash.

If I wash my car with my key in my pocket this happens to me on both front doors, I’ve started leaving the key in the house while washing it until I’m ready to open the doors.

It's odd because that didn't happen on my last one. Or I never noticed it in the few times I washed the car. But it was lock, unlock, lock, unlock constantly as water dripped down on the handles.
