Hi,

Just picked up a 5 door Aygo 2008, but the passenger window doesn't work, I have checked the switch which is fine. Could it be the motor, is so is an easy job to swap the motor/regulator? Is this a know problem/fault?

Also notices some water in the boot, are they  known for leaking into the boot, if so is it just a new window rubber?

Thanks in advance.

how have you checked the switch? it may show good on a meter but may not be able the handle the load swap the passenger and driver switches over to test, i assume you have checked the fuse

I would check the power and ground at the motor

Hi Bob, I did swap the door switches over and both work on the drivers side. Is there a fuse for window motors? couldn't find any details in the manual as to which fuse it was? I will check the power and ground at the motor, if I can get access to it.

Many thanks

Tony

Boot water leak is a common phenomena for the Aygo.  And it took me a while to figure out where the water came through.  Here are the common spots:

The centre brake light is a common source.

To address the issue, take the light assembly out by unscrew the 2 Philips head.  (I highly recommend you replace all 4 x 501 bulbs with regular halogen once you are in there.)  Put a good bead of silicone on where it contacts the car's body, then just screw it back in.  DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN THE SCREW as it can crack the light housing very easily.

This is where most of my leak came from:

A rubber tab that act as a shock absorber for the rear glass.  If you can wobble it around with your finger, that means it is leaking.  Even if it doesn't wobble, it is still a good measure to put silicone around it to prevent future leaks.

Behind the light cluster

The upper and lower blue circle are locating tab for the light housing.  Again if it wobbles, it means water can get through.  Then yellow circle is where the gasket for the light is located.   You CAN get a new set of gasket from eBay or just put silicone around it.  However, should you decide to take the latter route, if one of the light went out, you will have a happy time taking the thing apart.

Good luck
