Yaris poor speaker sound fidelity

Hi all,

Hi have a FY24 Yaris Excel, with the 6 speaker sound system.

I have noticed fidelity in not that good. When listening to radio, there is some muffling of sounds, particularly voices of radio presenters. The sound system can get loud, but the sound itself is not very clear, which makes me increase the sound more than I would like so I can hear more clearly, without much effectiveness. There are some sounds that are good (e.g. bass), but others are not. Some sounds muffle the others.

Has anybody noticed this as well on the 6 speaker system Yaris, or is it just me and my ears? Any solution? I have had other cars with 4 or 6 speaker sound systems where some sounds, namely voices, were much clearer.

Thank you

is it only the radio? FM or DAB? 8 or 9" display ?

Maybe increase treble and reduce bass, helps my ageing ears. You could check if there is an equaliser function where you can bias voice. With a 6 speaker system I would be surprised if there wasn't.

I also have to turn down the bass and increase treble on all my Speakers for my aging ears to hear speech clearly. I have done this with my 6 speaker yaris, and also biased it more to the front Speakers as the rears sound muffled to me. This helps enormously.

I've noted that the audio level of rear Speakers is lower than front ones

That at least on 8" TT2 of MY20/21 Yaris.  I've no idea if newer multimedia systems behave differently.

Researched a bit and this could do it. Will try, thank you!

Do you turn down bass and increase treble by 1 or more?

Just had a look at mine it’s the 9” smart connect version. I have bass down 1 notch, treble up 1, mid up 2 with sound position forward 1 notch.

My setting is bass down 3 and treble up 2 but results may differ for your hearing. Easy to try and tweak until you find "your" level. 👂🎵🎶

Nah, drowns out co-driver comments perfectly at the moment. Don't want to spoil the drive.
