My home insurance with my previous insurer increased by a couple of hundred or so, shopped around and LV came out well on top. Same policy cover half the price. But as with all insurances it is not untill you make a claim you see "how good they are"

We've been with LV= for a number of years - home insurance, car insurance and travel insurance. Claim wise we have had no issues so far, and they're rated highly by Which?

After finding the best prices with comparison sites I always do a bit of trawling to see what ratings the likely candidates have. Strike out this that seem iffy.

We've used LV for cars and house in the past and they are good. But their prices have been much too high for us recently.

Our Yaris is currently with Hastings Direct, the other car and house are with Aviva. (And if anyone is interested my travel insurance is with Puffin who seem good. Settled a claim a couple of years ago very quickly and easily, and premiums have stayed reasonable despite that.)

My son just insured his 2and car in 2 months .

He had it 11days an a but T boned him his insurance  was with admiral an we had it on mulity car .it's cost him £900 .so when he claimed as it was a write off he got a older car (another yaris) but less milage an more add ons and when he did the insurance agai it went down .  As I called admiral insurance and I said you ask if he's had a bump in last 5 years not his fault but the insurance goes up as he made a claim ALSO it will register for the next 5 years . So when we fill out the expenses part of the claim I want £2500 extra

As its somthing in the law about insurances  company's only allowed to claim £2500 off you over the course 5 years

Regardless how much they pay out .

So she told me they won't be putting his up as its not his fault but we do ask its to stop ppl doing crash for cash claims .so as I said it went down so that's good .

So we have 2 cars on the road full comp top leavel (platnuim ) everthing except brakedown

2 adults over 30 years no claim or accidents

2 provisional drivers

1 new driver (2months )

And its £1300  year

I just got my renewal price through - AA motor insurance -  Last year they wanted £435, and this year, for insurance renewal on 8th July, they want £582, and that's for fully comp, I'm 51 and I have 17 years NCB.

The general consensus looking online is that premiums have gone up on average 33% on last year, that's £150 on the average policy, which is what they have done to me - added on £150, or just shy of that.

It doesn't help that I had to make a claim on someone else's insurance in January 2023, and now, for the next 5 years I have to declare that claim, and this puts my premiums up. I suppose I am lucky I dont live in London where insurance premiums are sky high.

Its a bitter pill to swallow though that I am now having to fork out almost £600 for car insurance when I have not caused an accident or had any claims made against me for 17 years. Everyone is being clobbered for the overpriced parts prices and repair prices for modern cars, especially electric cars. If only they made cars simpler and easier to repair like in the olden days. These days you need so much expensive diagnostic equipment and tools to repair modern cars and we all pay the price for that.

Yes. It's what insurance is about - shared responsibility. One of the problems is the prevalence of uninsured drivers. (Back in the day your property only got hosed down if you were covered by fire insurance.)

It's called progress. You could buy a (eg) Morris Minor which as a classic would be cheap to insure ... but is that what you really want as transport?

You do have a choice.

Managed to haggle the AA down on price as I simply wasnt happy with being charged so much more. They said there had been an error with the renewal price quote and managed to bring it down from £582 down to £479. I dont often challenge my insurance renewal but this year I felt I had to as I am angry at being bled dry from every angle in this country at the moment. £435 to £479 is a much more reasonable price increase considering I have 17 years NCB and my only claim in donkeys years was a no fault claim, hence my NCB not being lowered.

Good comment and I totally agree " being bled dry from every angle on this country".....and it's just going to get worse, absolutely no use in pretending !!
