Bit of a long shot but thought I'd ask.

My better half insists that the sun is affecting her through the side window far more than it did than in our last car - a 2018 VW Passat R-Line.

Anyone know if my old VW or my current 2022 (Registered Jan 22 so probably 2021) Corolla Design has (or doesn't have) any UV filtering or something in the glass?

Not really expecting any answers but thought I'd ask just in case!

There is uv filtering but….

some models have hydrophobic driver/passenger glass where the tint is slightly lower

Ok, thanks guys.

So if there is a variation on filtering, how do we know which models?

I've noticed similar with my Icon, definitely feel the sun on the skin more strongly than my previous VW hatch.

It doesn't really affect me unless there is lower sun through the drivers side window.

The problem here is that you're feeling heat, which is infrared radiation, the filtering we're talking about is UV.

AFAIK most car manufacturers focus on keeping the UV out because that's what causes sunburn and damage to the interior of the car. Keeping the heat out is more expensive, and probably less desirable in cold countries like the UK. 😉
