Disable tailgate kick opening

How do people temporarily disable this so it doesn't keep opening when cleaning the car. Don't clean the car often but it drives me nuts when I do.

I had similar issues with the keyless entry! I had a solution though:

If you lock the car and put the key fob to sleep  (by holding LOCK and pressing UNLOCK twice), or putting it in a tin/faraday bag/other side of the house so the car can't see it anymore, then the keyless entry, and presumably the kick opening, shouldn't be triggered any more.

Thanks but would prefer not to have to lock the car as need to open doors to get at sills. Guess I could do those first if no other option. I'm sure I've seen somewhere about disabling kick opening but can't find it now.

Open car, place key out of range,  job done.

If the kick function only works when the key is present then that'd work too, but I'm under the impression it's active if the car is unlocked...?

My Icon doesn't have a powered tailgate but, according to the manual, you can turn the kick sensor on/off in the Settings menu on the driver's meter display.

When I’m washing the car I unlock it with the fob, then put it into a pouch to block the signal.

otherwise it keeps locking and unlocking when water hits the door sensors.

I thought I had seen that but couldn't find it. I will have another look. I will also test key out of range suggestion next time I wash car - ? 2025😁

Not putting it in “valet mode”?

Yep, that’s exactly what I do. Unlock the car so that the wing mirrors remain out, then put the key fob in its Faraday pouch in the house. I can then go ahead and wash without the doors continually locking and unlocking.

Definitely in settings menu on drivers display, I keep it disabled when I'm fitting removable towball to avoid inadvertently activating it also when rear bike carrier fitted. I've started to connect electrics to carrier and activated kick sensor by mistake, so I now always disable in settings menu.
