How big USB-stick is supported in my Prius Gen 4?

I have a 2019 G4 with JBL Premium sound system. A 32GB FAT32 USB-stick is working but my 512GB NTFS USB-drive is not. Manual doesn't say anything about maximum size or what filesystem is supported so how should I know? I assume that it only supports FAT32 but to what size?

Must be formatted fat32 as the head unit is dumb. Plenty of discussion here about 3rd party tools but generally most people use windows to format the usb so max size is software limited to 32gb.

however if you transfer your mp3 to an iPhone the head unit sees that as an ipod therefore no limit in size.

I used to use a 64GB dongle without any issues and that held a massive amount of songs.

The main issue I had was getting using a to play in the correct order and not alphabetically, but it can be done 😆

Thanks, but officiall support for FAT32 is 32GB, not more. But only in Windows,  the truth is that FAT32 has a theoretical volume size limit of 16 TB
So...what happens if I take a 512GB stick and format it to FAT32 in one volume with a 3rd party tool , will my device even recognize it?

https://www.howtogeek.com/316977/how-to-format-usb-drives-larger-than-32gb-with-fat32-on-windows/#:~:text=FAT32 supports drives larger than,t let you do it.

And: any kind of Apple products will not come near me. Period!

as big as you like but 32GB is the limit of the QNX system and the processor's ability to index the drive

As The Prius uses the older touch2 gen2 if you have sat nav (Go) you have NTFS support (enabled from the hidden sat nav service menu)

Nice reply.  How do you get into the hidden menu?

the setting is at the bottom of one of the menus, but can't remember what one

MM19 is touch2 gen 3 i didn't think they got the newer systems - that makes it more complicated as the menus are different

My device looks like this, think it's called Touch 2. Has GPS. No buttons, just touchscreen. USB-port between seats.
Can I have this hidden panel?

Found this nice thread. I think my unit is called MM16, same as in the beginning of that thread but I doubt there is any NTFS on/off support to be found anywhere:

I formatted an 64GB stick with Rufus today. FAT32. Was recognized and good to use in my MM16 system.

Did you have to change the block size?

No, I just changed to Non Bootable and FAT32. All other settings were default.
