Nugget inbound on Friday

Hello Aygoers,

Just saying hello from sunny Brighton as I will be picking up my red 2021 Aygo x-play that's done 6,000 miles on Friday.

I've made some terrible decisions with cars in the past and I'm kind of done with it all now. From a Fiesta with a wet belt (who on earth thought that was a good idea), to very very expensive pearlescent paint jobs, to ridiculously expensive PCPs and negative equity. The list goes on and I should never be allowed in a dealership unless accompanied by an accountant or bank manager.

Anyway I'm trying to be better, so I've bought this little nugget outright and hope to keep it with its service activated warranty for 7 hopefully hassle free years, by which time my mortgage will be paid off and I'll be close to retirement. Then I think I can be stupid with cars again for a while.

If anyone has any recommendations for a cheapish buff/polish around me please let me know as I'll probably treat the nugget to celebrate it's new ownership.

All the best everyone,

GB

I still can't believe that is a thing - Another human triumph of cost saving over common sense. :rolleyes1: (I mean, a petroleum-based rubber belt, immersed in a petroleum-based fluid which, by its very nature, will slowly dissolve it?? How did nobody see a problem with that!?)

The Aygo will, if nothing else be a lot more reliable. The damned things just won't die!! And even when they do you can fix them with a hammer, engine oil and some duct tape half the time...

It's a deal breaker for me if no cam chain.

Or it has stop start.

Or phone screens instead of switches.

Or DMF.

And lots of other improvements, too many to mention really.

I suppose if I do have to get another car one day it will have to be an old one,or get fond of horses.

That was Ford 60yrs ago, if you looked over the hedge you would find an old replacement part 😉

Didn't the 108 1.2 engine have a wet belt as well? When I found out my  Fiesta had one it was a constant cause of worry. So happy my Aygo is driven by a chain (and being a mk2 will hopefully not stretch).
