Hi everyone,

I want to get some roof bars, but am wondering what will be best, Toyota or Thule?

I want to avoid unnecessary water ingress in the channels to try and keep leaks at bay, is the risk the same with either one of these?

Which ones do you have and why did you chose them?

I have Thule Wingbar Edge on mine. I've had them on all my vehicles because they look great and they're as quiet as roof bars can be. Always a pair floating around on Facebook Marketplace. They're expensive new but worth the money.

I have Toyota bars (got them with car). They looks very similar to above photo (except they are silver/aluminum) 🙂

Connection place/point to car roof is not watertight (as are not these plastic covers).

Thanks, I pulled the trigger on Toyota OEM last night, they arrived today - will assemble them Saturday 🙂

Fair. The height of the OEM bars, along with the gap in the fitment between the rails and bars put me off those.

I think the cap in intentional - nothing can rub/ scratch roof rails.

Thought I would try the Cruz bars as they have had good reviews. Turned up a couple of days ago.image.thumb.jpeg.8b8c2d099afa53e2cb7a825adea318ed.jpeg

The Toyota ones will just be rebranded from another manufacturer?

Does the rubber boot on the footpack fully cover the hole left after removing the 4 covers to get to mount points? My cruz bar footpack dosent....

Dm800 - the front boots do but the rears are short. The pack comes with a couple of metal covers to put in the slot below the boot for the rears. They are a bit awkward to fit, and I didn't see any mention in the instructions, so it took a bit of head scratching.

Thanks DRS300...

I did consider buying 4 new covers and modifying them but when I saw the price...£27 each..  I swerved it.

I've got a 3d printer, and some modelling experience, no time though... Maybe during the summer holidays I'll give it a go and print something to cover it up a bit

The only thing touching the roof rails with the Thules is a big inch thick pad of rubber. No scratching and a nice flush contact. I couldn't get my head around the OEM toyota bars looking more like they're meant for a different car and have just been placed on top of the roof rails.

Same as mine, I've also just replaced the 4 hold down bolts as the supplied ones have badly corroded.
