Hello, not posted here before as haven't had any isside with my car (2018 RAV4 Hydrid icon Tech).

However, just gone into the dealer for a service/MOT and rear trailing arm bushes are shot, they have me over a barrel as it's an MOT failure and can't drive the car away.

Aplogies as this has been discussed before in older posts, just wanted to wake up the topic again, any recent similar experainces/comments/feedback appraciated.

Also had two advisories (Toyota not MOT):

1. The Rear Spring Cushions were damaged, from parts diagrams I can see that there are a couple of rubber/polyyrethane parts in the rear spring arrangement, can anyone point me at the 'cushions' and are they simple to replace.

2. Recommend fuel additive! There are no other details, could be a cleaning additive of a lubricity additive?

You can take and hare some pictures of the springs and bushes.
Your car is not too old , what mileage is? And have you drive loaded or over loaded , how careful you drive over speed bumps? These are questions that will dictate the answers to your original request. 👍

Hi Tony HSD

Mileage is 44250, most of that has been motorway up and down to NE Scotland from London.

Never driven with 'heavy loads' only self and the better half in the family.

Pretty carefull driver, don't cane it over speed bumps (too old for that malarkey).

Will try and take some photos when the car is relased after payment of the ransome 😠

Thanks for reply.
Rubber bushes can deteriorate prematurely for some reason like heavyweights load, fats drove over bumps and potholes, high speed corners or salt and grit during winters.
Pictures will be appreciated. Some dealers lately been pushing on customers unnecessary repairs as business is not at great pace and they have been looking to get extra work.

I suggest that you search this forum for "rear trailing arm bushes" and peruse the results ...

It's come up before.

Had to suck it up and go with Toyota replacements as the damaged/degraded bushes were an MOT failure.

Have retained the trailing arms that were removed, will replace the bushes and keep for next time.
