I have an issue on my Aygo , the touch screen has delaminated and they dealer Steven Eagell  said they will not replace it as we used it!!! What’s the point of given a 10 year warranty if they state you used the car so your not covered…..

any one else had this .

If you mean having to fight for warranty, yeah that's not unusual

If it just did it by itself and you haven't e.g. stuck a screen protector on it or been rubbing chemicals onto it then definitely argue that your use is not the cause of this and that it should be repaired under warranty. (Although check the warranty covers this; IIRC the factory warranty should but Relax doesn't)

Hi Darren, more details needed

How old is the Aygo ? How many miles ? How many owners ? Has it always been dealer serviced ?

Hi Darren

As others have said more information needed.  The other half had an Aygo several years ago, bought from 2nd hand from a steven eagell dealer but within the 10 year period.  The clutch was starting to go and dealer said that would be a cost to us, even though we argued with them about it.  In the end we sent an email direct to Toyota UK about it and got it Toyota telling them to cover it. Never gone back to a Steven Eagell dealership since that.

Depends which warranty the Aygo is covered by. If it is Relax, that is a service generated, extended warranty, and, like most extended warranties, doesn't provide the same coverage as the new car warranty. See the following for coverage and exclusions:

On the basis there has been no misuse of the screen this is a straight forward breach of the Sale of Goods Act. I assume your purchase was not a business one otherwise the protection of the Sale of Goods Act is not there. The dealer should sort it but I suggest you contact Toyota direct to tell them. Better to write in the old fashioned way if you cannot send an email or report the problem on their web site. If you ring immediately after make a note of the conversation including the date and time. Indeed do that with all conversations with them. .

The Consumer Rights Act 2015 replaced the majority of the Sale of Goods Act.

Until the OP confirms which warranty the Aygo has, the Consumer Rights Act may not even apply.

On the basis the part is faulty, it is not fair wear and tear and it has not been abused there is a straight forward claim on the basis the goods are not of merchantable quality. Many dealers try to wriggle. Don’t let them.

But the part may not be covered by warranty, particularly if a third party warranty, you don't know the facts as the OP has not replied with further information

We also don't know how old the Aygo is, so may be outside the scope of the Consumer Rights Act, and if the car is under the Relax serice generated extended warranty, this warranty doesn't cover in car entertainment.

Its OK making assumptions, but we don't know the full story ....

I have a Toyota Aygo, and tried to use the 10 year warranty for the follow reasons.

1. the touch screen was delaminating from the inside showing blistering and bubbles.

Dealers response was in so many words you used it.

2. Rattle from the door .

Dealer checked and the strengthening bar has come unbonded ,not covered as it’s not mechanical.

what is the point of the 10 year warranty when I get excuse after excuse as to why it’s not covered.

The car is a 2016 Aygo 52000 miles on it I’m the only owner from new it’s the second car.

I have also taken it to the dealers complaint department and their so called general manager called and basically said to me don’t bother complaint to Toyota UK they will back us, so I complained and Toyota backed them.

i have the same with my Yaris cross, it leaked and the basically said I washed it , I had not it was 2 days old.

It should also be noted that whilst the Consumer Rights act gives consumers six years to make a claim this is not on an 'old for new' basis. It also does not offer an automatic right to remediation.

The first hurdle occurs six months after the sale at which point it is no longer assumed that the item was defective at point of sale. From that point on the retailer can require that the consumer provide evidence that the item was defective at point of sale.

If such proof is provided then the act will take into consideration how much use the consumer has had and how long the item would reasonably be expected to last and what kind of wear and tear would be involved.

Any award would be on that basis and might consequently not be worth the bother of pursuing. I would suggest before going down that route the OP seeks expert advice from the Citizens Consumer Advice Service.

The Relax service generated warranty is an extended warranty, and as such (along with most extended warranties) provides more limited cover than the new car warranty.

Coverage has been quite clearly publicised (including on TOC) since the inception of Relax.

what year car is this on, not your 2023 I take it, ah its a 2016 - a bit of a moot point if you are getting rid of the car, multimedia systems are not covered after the first 3/5 years, and the door bar coming loose, the onus is on you to prove fault - what's not going to happen

Neither problem is insurmountable, there are plenty of used radios on the market, and the door bar needs panel bonding back in place with PU sealant/tiger bond/stikaflex

Toyota want £95 for this to be glued back on.

That sounds about right for a dealer, it's an easy enough job to DIY, and radios from dealers are horrendously expensive. again a very simple DIY job to swap a used radio there are plenty about as C1/108/Aygo's used them, lots from crashed cars and people upgrade to the 3-button triple play or aftermarket radios

Hi can you advise if I fit a new head unit if a code is needed ? Current one has the sat nav built in

If it is a unit from an Aygo, then no code is needed. The following covers replacing the head unit - the later 3 button unit has Apple Carplay/Android Auto:
