Avensis estate

Hi all.

looking for advice. I have a 2010 estate 1.8 petrol auto.

im wondering if there is anything I should be looking out for on this? It’s hand the electric hand brake module changed at the cost of £2000 and it’s due an oil change.

im happy to tackle 99% of problems my self. I’m going to be carrying out a full service in the next month or so so I know the engine side is all good.

but whilst there what should I check. How often does the gearbox oil need chanhing etc?? Hopefully if it worked I’ve attached a pic of it as well

thabks in advance.

I’m guessing there aren’t any real problems with these cars?

You are correct, not much in the way of issues with these cars. The EPB sometimes give a bit of grief, but yours has been changed. Other than that they are pretty bulletproof. Mine is a manual, had it for 3+ years, great car. I don't recall seeing much on here about the auto boxes, so someone more familiar with those will be along soon I am sure, but, in my experience, regular oil/filter changes on auto boxes will always pay dividends. Other than that, just regular servicing with good oil (plenty on here about oil viscosity), filters etc. Never had any real issue with mine, great cars.

Hi neil.

thanks for that. Oil changes and filter changes will be a doddle for me. Also oil is easy as we have lots of hilux in the work fleet and carry oil for them. I would guess they are the same grade oil (but then again they are diesels so I will check)

but for my first service which I will get done towards end of month will be the whole bag so plugs and all. I have never serviced an auto box so will also need to read up on them.

having had the car a week or so I’m loving it. Couple of little bits to sort like the lense cap fell of the number plate light the other day when I shut it and a cap missing off the wiper arm. But ultimately it’s in good nick.

long term I will upgrade as I do things. So like brakes and such. They are perfectly adequate as they are but I like to personalise as I go. I also love owning road sleepers so that will be a fun task later down the road.

once again thank you.
