Mine are set to psi, thats what I prefer.

I've have done what I set out to do, all I want to know now, is if I go back into the same tyre setting place, will it show my actual tyre settings ? because they are still all blank, like in the photo I showed earlier.

You've to to drive some minutes an a few miles before reading pressure after a reset.

If you're simply tuning pressure inflating or deflating a tyre you should simply have to wait about 30 seconds to update the readings.

When I do the pressure maintenace I usually follow this procedure:

-  Car in READY mode with handbrake on and gear in P

- Select the pressure view on display

- Keyless fob close to dash  ( to avoid "Key fob not detected pop ups )

- Driver window down ( better have a plan B if for some reason doors get locked )

- Cold tyres after leaving the car parked for many hours in a cool place ( I usually do mainteance in my garage )

- Tune pressure with my inflator checking the gauge

- Wait a minute to update the readings.

- Look on screen that the expected pressure is displayed.

- Visually check tyre status

- Go to next wheel.

So should I be seeing the readings in this screen now ?

After driving for a bit yes.

Then it's not worked for me as I did a 15 minute drive after I followed the instructions in that Toyota video and I have also just driven to the cinema and there are no readings.

Obviously I agree to periodically check the status of tyres expecially if I feel vibrations or noise during the drive.

I had a really weird one the other day. The tread had started to separate from the carcass. It took a Kwikfitter a few minutes turning each wheel by hand, with the car in the air, to find it.

Hi there,

The manual says to check the required tire pressure on the sticker next to the driver's seat. Mine says 33psi for the front and 32psi for the rear. The actual pressure when cold is 41psi for all tires. Is this normal/safe?

Yaris Cross 2024
Tires: ZIEX ZE010B 205/65R16 95H

Thanks

It's not unsafe, but it a bit on the high side.

As we come into summer the tyre pressure will increase, just let some pressure out until they at the recommended pressure

After reading through all of this I think I'll stick to my trusty old Michelin tyre pressure gauge. 😂

I'll second that Slarty, I still use my 30 year old chrome pen style gauge.

My pal Denzel however has tpms, and a very fancy digital gauge that needs batteries, and a digital pump that also has a gauge.

Strangely often asks to borrow my old gauge just to make sure he has the right pressures.

I have two of those still. A P.C.L. and a Dunlop. The Dunlop's scale goes up to 120lbf/in2. Both of proper high quality "Made in England" vintage.

More than adequate. Why re-invent the wheel? Keep it simple as the saying goes.

Confession - my Michelin gauge is Battery powered with a display for the figures. Measures to 1/10 of a unit. It takes ages to achieve 33.6lbf/in2.😎

I used to use a Halfords digital one, but it gave up. Then I got a decent dial gauge (RaceX I think it is) and used that checking occasionally with a pen gauge. Recently I bought a Battery powered pump which has digital display and auto pressure set.

I did a quick check with all three when I got the pump and they all said something different, so I couldn't even get a 2 out of 3 result 😖 . (I just go with the pump now as a rule.)

This week for the first time after over two years of owning it, my Yaris showed the check pressure light.

I checked the pressure for all 4 wheels, two had dropped to 20 odd PSI, probably not helped by me having to driver over a lot of speed bumps with a full load while moving house.  I inflated all to the stated pressures & tried to find the reset button.  This is very well hidden just above the accelerator pedal!  I had to consult a You Tube video to find it as the diagram in the hand book didn't really help!

The procedure was more or less the same as on my Nissan Mirca I owned before, which seemed to display the light about every 6 months, on that car the reset button was easy to find, though it took me years to learn how to get the bonnet release open without the handbook!

For future reference, you don't need to reset them: Just inflate them back up to optimal pressure and the light will go out when the sensors next check in with the ECU!

Probably was good to reset it as 20 psi is quite low to have the light on. When I had the MK3 i could tell if it has lost 3 psi or more by looking at the tyres.

The lowest tyre was about 25 PSI so they still looked quite full.  It was the same on my Nissan Micra, which would display the tyre low light when one tyre dropped to that pressure.
