I have a 1995 lucida 4x4 2.2 litre right hand drive. The front shocks are both leaking and need replacing. My local motor factor says he has nothing listed for the lucida and does not think they are the same as the Previa.I have looked at the shocks and cant find a part number.Has anybody gone through this before and know if the shocks on the Lucida and Previa are the same.

Also can you get at the mounting bolts on the drivers side without stripping out the dash or clocks.

Any info please Phil :( :( :(

Check www.bbcspares.com they should stock the correct shocks for your model.

I got my shocks ok.The previa ones are the same.I only had to drop the bottom cowl under the steering colum to gain access to the top 3 nuts on the drivers side. :group-cuddles:

I am suffering from the same problem however the cheapest price I have got is around £140 + VAT which is pretty unacceptable. Could any one tell me where we could get good price parts for these vehicles.

I actually bought my Lucida 3 months a go with 6 month warranty on it. It seems that the cover actually does not cover shock absorbers. I advice any one who buys these vehicles for a thorough inspection and check what your warranty covers.

Have you tried the website I posted above?

Hi Gareth,

Yes thank you for the advice. I have bought two front shock absorbers from him. They are still expensive. They did not also come with the spring. Is it normal? They are genuine Toyota parts though.

However I have not been able to get it fixed. Yesterday I took it my local garage but he could not find easy access to the top bolts of the absorbers. He told me that the entire dashboard has to come off. Therefore it is a big job as well as electrical he advised me to take it to Toyota main dealer. Well since I have been well robbed off with this car I have not got any penny to spend any more.

Would you be so kind as to tell me how difficult is to change them. Can I do it my self? I am a good DIY. Is it really all the dashboard has to come in order to change the front shocks? I don’t think so because it is ridiculous.

I look forward to hearing from you all very soon I hope.

I changed my shocks at the front also ordered from the web site above I did the job but I noticed when doing the first side that below the bearing at the top end there was something that looked like it had disintergrated, then after I did the second one I realized there should have been a washer between the bearing and the plate below it. My question is where would I get hold of one since the toyota garage says it's not a seperatly listed item and I would have to buy the whole suspension system ( which sounded a bit like your screwed mate and it will cost you hundreds to put it right )

Any ideas where I could get any and would be ok to drive it without for a while?

Dash board does not have to come out at all. To do the left front all you need to do is go into the glove box and take off the cover at the rear and you will see the three nuts you need to undo. The other side is a little more tricky but not too bad remove the under panel of the dash then you will see the 3 nuts but you will need a longish extension to your rachet to reach them but it's doable I did it and I am in no way a mechanic but I did buy some tools to do the job like a long extension bar to undo the strut bottom bolts. so good luck if you decide to take this mission.
