Hilux 2016 - 2019 registered in Spain

I have had a front defence bar fitted to my Hilux, the garage I took it too said they had to disconnect the front sensors?  is this correct ??

It is conceivable that the bar could interfere with the operation of the sensors.

However, probably needs to be declared to your insurer as the bar and the sensor issue may be considered a modification.

Mike, I wonder if you could advise me please, do sensors come as standard with this model 2016 - 2019 series 8 , I bought the vehicle second hand so I am not sure if the previous owner had them installed

Not sure 're the specs of Spanish market versions, but the 2016 Hilux (UK spec) did have an earlier version of Toyota Safety Sense. See link below.

As with other models, there would have been front sensors - usually behind the front Badge.
