Replacement Front (Passenger) Seat Cushion/Padding

Recommended Posts

Hi all, quick one

I've not long had my 2021 Rav4 HEV. So something I've been wanting to get around to but now my hand's been forced.

Sadly I've ended up with two large cups of coffee being spilt over my passenger seat and safe to say the seat is saturated, it's been a few days now and the sponge padding under the leater trim is still in a bad way. Not to mention the whole car smelling like a Starbucks!

What I'm wanting to know generally is, is there any official Toyota parts catalogue that I've some how missed for the 21 Rav?, I've come across a few 3rd party sites but nothing official looking. Hoping to find out roughly how much a new seat sponge/padding/cusion would cost and help me decide whether to go down the used/new route.

As well as this, when I was younger I used Haynes manuals to do as much work on my cars myself as I can, is there a similar resource for newer cars like these Toyotas? I've tried looking about Youtube, lots of focus on removing the rear seats but nothing too helpful with the front. A nice step by step describing the procedure would be handy but possibly too much to ask?

Any advice/pointers welcome,

Cheers

Suspect new seats come as a unit and likely a lot of money. Seems to be a trend to sell assemblies rather than the component parts. Scrap yard and breakers may be the cheaper option.

May need to blast the heaters on with window ajar for an hour or two. And if you can't get the stains out with a vanish pad or similar then custom fit seat covers? And an air freshener. Probably not the coffee smell ones but if they did a mcvities digestive smell that could work?

Speaking of which my vented seats and full of biscuit crumbs and sesame seeds in the little holes. I'm waiting for one to sprout.

It might be worth seeing if there are any seat retrimming companies near you who could reupholster the seat. Might be cheaper and you could get them to customize it

I have now packed in eating or drinking in my car since a MCd cardboard coffee cup leaked into my cupholder and filled it , the hardest bit was washing the 2p and 1p coins contained therein , I don't like waste.

I suppose it's a testament to old Toyotas that it held, and didn't go into the carpet etc below.

To the poster who is growing sesame seeds, try cress, it's easier.

Those nature crunchy bars are the worst. Bite them and they explode all over the seats. Fertilising the sesame seeds.
