Engine Popping - Bad Idea?

Recommended Posts

LMAO - mispelt topic and now I can't change it :) Meant to read 'exhaust popping' Oh well..

My mr2 is just running standard boost and runs typically a bit rich as they do...

After accelerating, when lifting off to change gear if I blip the throttle I can get exhaust pops - I assume from excess fuel being burnt off. Is this bad for the engine or will it just coke the exhaust tail?

It's normal dude. Don't worry about it. Just open the window and enjoy.

hehe - it is a bit addictive, glad to hear its not damaging. Every now and then you get a pretty loud pop - so many different noises - engine reving - then turbo spooling + induction the bov dumping of boost then exhaust pop.

Love the burble when you start the engine in the morning as well
