Picked up my new Yaris Cross Design last weekend and had an embarrassing conversation at the dealers this morning.

I went in to find out if I had to switch on the blue ambient lighting, only to be told it was not fitted to the Design grade.

i didn’t have my downloaded copy of the brochure I based my order on on March, but checked when I got home.

Not impressed that it has been removed from the spec 😡IMG_2091.thumb.png.56af7d91f65cfa8a38bfbb8c5693a8a2.png

Always always always..............Check the specification you are buying. I get people ringing up weekly saying their sat Nav is not working, only to have to tell them they don't have it in their car. You must never assume, if something is really important to you, make sure your sales person knows, "Must have sat nav" or whatever you are expecting on the model chosen. The reason brochures always have E&OE on them, errors and omissions excepted, meaning you must check the specification required

The Yaris Cross online brochure was finally updated for the 24 MY last Friday ( July 5th )

The previous online brochure was dated December 2022 - I suspect this is the brochure you got the spec from.

Brochure publishing date is on the very back page.

24 MY went in to production start of April.

For the 24 MY Yaris Cross only the Excel, GR Sport & Premier Edition have the ambient lighting fitted as standard.

FWIW multiple people have complained at Toyota UK on various social media platforms for the very out dated Yaris Cross brochure & confusing information that Toyota UK where giving out in replies to questions raised about versions specs / equipment.

It's difficult as there are just too many things to keep track of - Like how far do you have to go? If you have to start listing things like central locking and electric windows and power steering the list will be so long the salesperson will not read it or miss loads of things if they do.

It doesn't help that the vehicles are going through a period of change and the chip shortage has also made the specs quite variable.

Even the sales people don't know what'll be on the car half the time as the information they get from Toyota UK is nearly as bad as what we get half the time - I knew about the 130HP Yaris Mk4 before my nearest dealers did , and they keep thinking I have a Launch Edition because they didn't know the Excel could have a HUD!!  (To be fair I think it was a rare option - It seems hardly anyone opted for the HUD! :confused1:)

I guess all you can really do is try not to buy a vehicle during a transition period or get a used/nearly-new one so you can check for real what it has...
