Have never read that that sump strainer needs to be cleaned other than during an engine strip down etc.

The standard canister oil filter should be all thats needed.

If the car is new to you then look at changing the gearbox oil  1.9 ltrs as thats often ignored, as can the brake fluid  which needs to be changed every 2 years for our uk MOT.

The other common missed service items are  the pollen filter and cleaning /red greasing etc of the brake caliper slider pins.

No need to take the sump off unless you are having issues or the old oil was thick and lumpy

oil and filter change is all you need

Brake fluid is always a dead giveaway on older cars because it will have turned dark brown/black in the resevoir over the years if it's been neglected. OTOH, if someone actually cared enough to replace it every few years, you immediately know the rest of the car has been maintained.
