This topic could also be titled  'I didn't know it did that'. It was only recently that I found out that our Excel model had the 'auto boot opening using a foot' option. I'd tried several times, but nothing happened. Reading the handbook and experimenting, a short sharp kick on the centre line under the rear bumper does indeed work after a short delay followed by a beep. I'm never so loaded with shopping that I cannot use the button above the numberplate but it's good to know it's there and it impresses onlookers! I've also noticed that when going down a steep hill (of which there are many in N Yorkshire) occasionally the engine revs shoot up to 3500 which seemed odd until I realised that the regenerative braking was being assisted by engine braking. In the Excel the regen works when needed, rather than using a 'B'setting on the gear stick. There are two header tamks with pink fluid in them, so I assume there are separate cooling systems for the E and IC motor. Unlike previous years and vehicle ownership, the car has very few dead flies and insects splatted on the front. Is this clever aerodynamics 😀 or a sign of global warming 😄😄 or lack of hedgerows or the widespread use of pesticides that has caused the reduction in of the insect and fly population? Does anyone else have something they have discovered in their Corolla that was not obvious?

2 tanks are indeed 1 for the engine and one for the hybrid system, water pumps are electric

Noticed that too engine brake comes on when the Battery is full for obvious reasons.

This is normal and it happens because the engine has been started by the mg1 without using petrol , just to discharge the Battery to lower levels ( 80% and slightly below).
It is not an engine brake and these high rpm can happen sometimes even when you finish your downhill descend and you are stationary at traffic lights or junction and the engine starts unexpectedly.
The longer the descend is more likely you will see these engine revving high.

its handy to have the rev counter to see this info. when i had the Corolla TS going up hill at 30km/h i often saw the revs up at 3500 running on engine alone, and ev light out, ease off very slightly on accelerator and revs dropped still maintaining same speed.  often while driving at 100km/h on engine power revs were at 1300 ev light out.
