2006 Corolla vs 2010-12 Auris Reliability

In the market for a cheap daily driver. I've narrowed it down to two options:

- 2006 Corolla 1.6 SR (Not newer because I like the 06 shape)

- 2010 - 2012 Auris 1.6 SR (Not older because of the features)

Both petrol, both manual.

I do like the Auris more. It's newer, has more features and is a bit bigger and has more power (130bhp vs 109bhp on the corolla). But I know the Corolla is renowned for it's reliability. But just how much MORE reliable is it compared to the Auris.

Can anyone who owns either car give some insight into which would be the better option?

Well Auris cars are as reliable as Toyota name can be.
They are very similar to Corolla,  And yes it is the newer model and has its extras.
Auris SR 1.6 manual is great choice. And my personal opinion is that Auris 2010-2012 are way better than Auris 2007-2009 or 2013-2018. They have better interiors,  better headlights, drive quieter too. Corolla is a bit too old and the rust will be the major issue. , but this will apply to Auris too, all depends of how and where they been used.

An Auris is just an E140 Corolla. They changed the name for the EU market, but it was still sold as a Corolla in the rest of the world. The name doesn't make it less of a car.

See first paragraph:
