Yaris Mk1 Air bag light flashing

A new issue for my daughter's car, and a potential snafu when we get to MOT time in September. The air bag warning light on the dash is flashing. Occasionally it doesn't come on, but 9/10 times it starts flashing once the car is started. I disconnected the Battery for a few hours, to no avail. While the Battery was disconnected i unplugged the yellow electrical connectors under the driver's and passenger's seat, gave them a spray with contact cleaner and reconnected. Again, no improvement. What's the next step? I have got a cheap ELM327 bluetooth code reader, but have only used it with the Scanmaster app and that doesn't "see" airbag fault codes.
