Lots of White Noise when using the radio

Hi, first time posting on here.

My 2006/2007* Toyota Corolla E12 has had an issue since i bought it. The radio has a lot of white noise, no matter the channel.
My friend has a 2007 Toyota Corolla E12, and he has no issues, regardless of where the car is.
*(I am unsure of the exact year, as it seems like it was manufactured in 2006, but was first registered in 2007 as a year 2007)

I can hear the sound from the radio channels fine, there is just a lot of white noise in addition to the music.

I have tried making sure the external antenna on the roof is fully connected/screwed in, however it seems like the quality of the radio is the exact same with it fully removed.

I have tried removing the center unit from the center console, and making sure that all the wiring connectors and antenna wire are fully connected, to no avail.

The white noise is heard from all the door speakrs, so I am fully lost.

I think it might be the antenna cable itself, but I am unsure of how to confirm this or eventually fix it.

Any advice on how to tackle this problem?

Connect a makeshift aerial (wire) to rear of the head unit to rule out wire/aerial fault if no better then the Radio is faulty could be dry jointed somewhere.
