New Member - Toyota Mark X G's

Hi guys,

Thought I'd briefly introduce myself.

I'm a long time member of Lexus Owners Club & GT86 owners club.

I've always liked Japanese cars, but in the recent years it's become more of a struggle to find something decent that fits the bill. I've had a bunch of cars like '91 1UZ Toyota Soarer, '94 300ZX, '99 Mark II JZX100, MX5, a couple of Foresters etc. but the car I've been with the longest have been my GT86 and my manual Lexus IS250 (multiple of them actually).

Having so much fun driving the GT86 and having the "luxury" of the Lexus, I decided to find some sort of a cross over between the two.. Arguably my choice could've been different but I ended up getting a 2014 Toyota Mark X 350s G's. This is sort of a middle ground between the sportiness of the 86 and overall utility & "luxury" of the Lexus saloon.. The Mark X is equipped with the 2GR-FSE engine which is one of Toyota's best engines ever made. Naturally aspirated 3.5l V6 with port & direct injection and unmatched reliability.

The G's (later in 2015/16 G's became GR) cars come with a few different things exclusive to the G's (GR) model:

  • Front & Rear bumpers
  • Side skirts
  • Boot spoiler
  • Exhaust
  • Bigger brakes
  • Forged wheels
  • Extra spot welds
  • Extra chassis braces underneath
  • Underbody aero
  • Half alcantara half leather seats
  • White instrument cluster

It's not as fun as the GT86, but it is lighter than the Lexus and with ~320hp it certainly has enough oomph.

The car is currently waiting to be registered by the DVLA as it's a fresh import.

I'll probably start a new thread later on, once I start messing with it. It's not staying the way it is, but won't be doing anything drastic.

Thank you. I'm afraid I can only give advice on this chassis and the 86! But this is part of the reason I went for the mark x. It's pretty much my lexus underneath.

...oops 🤣 not exactly far off with the Mark X. It's a successor of the (GX)JZX100/110/120 family. Hence the chassis code, GRX130 (or specifically GRX133 with the 3.5l 2GR)

My Mark II was a two tone white 😅 but here's my black lexus
