Starting to look very slightly useful on the new model?

Posted

Missus has it on her new Yaris Cross - it seems to be alright, it can open the window or turn the heating up / down.

No idea what other commands it has with car functions.

Any update would make it more useful than it is right now. Even when I’ve managed to find the right question it’s been very flakey. If I’ve got the phone (android) connected I just push the button on the steering wheel and ask Google. Solid and of course you can ask things in straight English, without remembering the correct form, (or whatever language your system is set too) and get a quick and accurate answer. I use it all the time to check the weather at my destination and similar (all those dumb questions that sometimes pop into your head when you’re driving or in conversation with the co pilot).

I tried several times last night for the destination of Corinth and it just didn't happen, I'm sure in one word it wouldn't of detected my Yorkshire accent😄

It works fine for the fan speed WBTW seems a truly pointless command as it's so easy to do manually.

I use it a bit, for example:

  • turning the A/C on or off (if the car's hot, I drive off with windows open, maybe even open the all with th remote as I approach the car, then when I've let the hot air out shut the windows and simultaneously ask for the fan to turn on.  As I approach my destination I often turn the A/C off.
  • if I want to change the A/C temperature and I'm in traffic or busy turning the wheel I'll use voice command (I can also ask to change the passenger temperature, but never need to!).

There are a few things it understands but says it can't do, like open or close driver's (or other) window or set the Cruise Control to a different speed (I'd love to be able to say "set CC to 53 mph" to save fiddling around to get a true speed).

Yeah - it works - but limited use I think - so I don't really use it.
Plus I'm also scared the kids will find out and take over the car from the back seat - eek
