Known Engine oil burn issue 1NRFE due to faulty Piston rings

Hello there, it is apparent there's an engine oil burn due to faulty pistons or piston rings on 1NRFE Verso engines.

1- Has there been any recall or a bulletin been issued by the TOYOTA in the UK to get this fixed as it's a manufacturer's error on those pistons?

2- Did anyone get these pistons changed as part of the recall?

3- Can you argue your case with TOYOTA with a historical recall ( if there was one) when its not been done on your car to get it done at present for free ?

4- If you couldn't get it replaced under the recall, have you had those pistons changed and upgraded to the correct ones privately and if you did, how much did that cost you?

Thank you in advance.

That ship's sailed I'm afraid - It's not a recall as it's not safety related, but Toyota did have a good-will gesture repair campaign running for that engine issue, where they'd replace the pistons and other parts with parts which fixed the issue, but the campaign was limited to 10 years and that's long gone now.

Alas a lot of owners didn't take advantage of it so the majority of cars with that engine still have the problem.

You can get it done yourself, either by getting a dealership to do it (Very expensive) or buying the parts and DIY or getting someone else to do it (Still expensive).

The problem is the age of affected vehicles tends to mean it doesn't make economical sense to fix it, so most people just live with it or get rid of the car.
