The car wasn't built for the European market, specifications will differ, parts, if different to European models, may be more expensive, etc, etc.

Insurance premiums for imported vehicles like a Prius from Japan can be higher due to a number of reasons such as potentially higher repair costs, availability of parts, and different safety standards. Insurers also consider historical claims data and resale values when setting premiums. It's best to ask your insurer for specific reasons behind the increased cost and compare insurance quotes.

Normally headlights... Bumpers and trim are different, if in an accident insurance is obligated to repair with genuine parts which obviously are not readily available in the UK for a none UK car.

And don't forget Rd tax is going to be more as it isn't emission  tested for the UK.
