I saw this article in yesterday Daily Mail.

I live on my own and my daughter lives about 600 miles away. I insure with Toyota Insurance Services and apparently if I die my insurance is cancelled. Thankfully I park in a garage but I can imagine the situation where a car is parked on a road in West London, the owner dies, the car gets lifted and if a relative doesn't contact the recovery agent within 14 days the car gets crushed.

Or perhaps the owners wife is a named driver and assumes she can carry on driving the car until the insurance expires.

How did they know he was dead?
was it the fact that he defaulted on his monthly payments and “broke” the contract?
or did the family notify them and therefore “should” have taken the responsibility of moving the car?

never take the fiction in the daily snail on face value, there is always info they leave out to sensationalise the story.

I have never seen a  clause that says you have to wake up breathing for the insurance to be valid.  I don't think they can legally cancel it. Maybe you are nt the main driver so that could disqualify you I suppose.

If you were to pass away,in many cases car insurance policies do cease immediately upon the death of the policyholder. This is a common practice because insurance contracts are typically based on the individual circumstances and risk profile of the policyholder. However if the car was parked illegally at the time of death and towed away, the registered keeper would receive a letter from the company responsible for its removal. This letter would detail how to reclaim the vehicle. Typically, a family member named as executor in the will would handle any fines and oversee the vehicle's recovery process.

My Auris is currently in for an insureance repair (Tesco Insureance, in with a repair firm, of delinquent proto-trogloydytes, called FMG). Slight damage to the bumper. not heard anything from them for 3 weeks. So, i think I might actually die of old age before i get it back.......

They are probably waiting for parts. I believe they are being stolen off another car tonight, so you should have your car back in a couple of weeks 😁

Got the Auris back now, 2 days shy of 4 weeks. The quality of the repair work is very good, its as good as new, shame it took so long, with no updates or information.
