USB playback

I've just acquired a new Mazda 2 Hybrid (yes, I know...)

In my previous car (Honda Jazz) I was used to playing music files from an MP3 stick drive, which it did without any problem.

However, on this car, while it starts playing tracks on a random basis, it just shows "loading", so it won't recognise the file structure on the drive and allow me to browse it.

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Is this the same USB stick drive?

Yes, same stick drive, although run through an adapter on the new car.

I copied one album on to another stick drive, and it did recognise that after a few minutes, so it suggests that it's just very slow to recognise the file structure.

Poor quality USB-C adapter/lead ? some adapters are only any good for charging or PD with low USB through put

It eventually recognised the whole drive (just short of 3,000 tracks) after about half an hour, so I got there in the end, but strange that it's so much slower. Playback is fine.
