Windscreen Wipers!?!

:censor: :ffs: why does NOTHING ever ever fit my car off the shelf, and why does everything turn into an epic battle of getting something to fit!!!?? :ffs:

all i wanted to do was change the front windscreen wipers - thats it! went to Halfords, picked up some Bosch ones (looked in the guide, said it fitted the 83 - 87 corolla, no additional adaptors needed). got home, opened them, and clearly, they didnt fit, as looking at the (crap) fitting instructions, the end of my wiper arms were meant to be hooked. however, as standard, the car has a plastic adaptor screwed over the end of the arm, which locate the factory blades. so, i thought that removing this would reveal the hooked end. this proved 5000x more difficult than anticipated, as the two screws holding it on had rusted solid, and, upon attempting to undo them, dissolved to dust from the screwdriver. so, i then had to snap as much of the plastic adaptor off as possible with some pliers (after leaving them drenched in WD40 for an hour, to no avail), so i could get access to the screws with the pliers, and remove them this way. i managed to get one out, revealing that infact the end is not hooked at all, so the whole excersize was pointless, and to top it off the head snapped off the second screw, leaving the threaded part in place so i now need a new wiper arm. to make matters worse, i also snapped the "universal adapter" on the new blade, trying to see if it would infact fit, so that is now rendered useless. so basically, i now have no wiper fitted to the rear (i took it off, so i still had 2 front wipers), i need to buy a new wiper arm, possibly 2 new adaptors (the one from the rear was very brittle, so cracked when i took it off), take the Bosch blades back (i can only take one back, as i broke the other), meaning yet again, a job which would have cost about £15 on any other car, will end up costing about £50 on mine.

oh, and the already erratic number plate lights have now decided to stop working all together. im rapidly falling out with this car! :censor: :ffs: :arrgg-matey:

and JOY!! the MOT is due in a fortnight

look at the breakers and see if they have a 92> corolla as the arms should fit straight on and have the hooked end too.

ive been to every local breakers yard i know of today (5), none of which had an AE82 or AE101 in. One had a 3dr AE92, so i took the wiper arm off that, but it didnt fit. so, im presuming, if an AE92 arm wont fit, an AE101 wont either (its more similar in shape to the AE92 anyway).

so i went to toyota to price a new one, thinking im not gonna be able to find one, but they came back with a price over £50. there's no way im paying that, so has anyone got any suggestions on what i can do :crybaby:

i really need a wiper arm!! its got its MOT in two weeks!

If you werent so far away you could have 4 wiper arms! Due to there is 2 AE80's (Non GT '82) in my local scrappy!(Well they were there on thursday, but that scrappy has a quick turn over of cars!) I have had the h/lamps out of them!
