hello im wondering as the egr in my toyota avensis 2014 1adftv 2.0 i would like to do away with it as i dont  want my engine to get clogged up and break things. i did this to my last vw group car 1.9 tdi engine by just pulling out the small air  pipe that makes the egr work and also i ran a rubber hose from the crank case vent to the ground and put a small air filter in the other pipe going into the air intake box. plus i went into my vcds (vw software) to turn down the egr values of the car and that turned off the check engine light. is this possible with this toyota engine s stop all the build up of dirt coming into my car egr system

That’s not a good idea imo.
Just keep it original and do all required maintenance on time and you will enjoy long life and trouble free car.
Any modifications and alterations of the original specs brings complications in a long run.

It’s up to you.
I like everything to be original and work as is intended to do and no unpleasant surfaces in the future. The cars these days are way more complex than back 15-20 years ago and my modifications brings negative outcomes afterwards. But that’s just me.

just thought the way these old dirt egr systems thought be better job just shooting them out the car exhaust rather than in threw the air intake

AFAIK there is no simple way of 'mapping out' the EGR on these engines, so if you remove or blank off the EGR valve you'll have the engine management light on permanently, which is an MOT failure.

The only way is to get ot mapped out via a remap. these engine are not very mappable, but you can get an extra 25bhp and the EGR mapped out. If its functioning correctly ie closing fully when you get the map done, a blanking plate is not required as the erg is fully closed. They literally are the most retarded invention ever.
