My first Toyota…delivery due in October

Good afternoon all,

Switching over from the Lexus Owners Club forum (where I’m First_Lexus) as last week I ordered my first Toyota, a C-HR Excel due for delivery in late October.

I’ve had three Lexus in a row since 2016 - 2xNX300h followed by my current RX450h, but was looking to downsize as my annual mileage is now very limited so the big RX, fantastic though it is, had to go as I simply don’t need a car that big.

Having looked at various options the C-HR was my favourite, I guess due to a sense of familiarity and my preference for eCVT over DSG / double clutch gearboxes, which I tend to find slightly hesitant in operation. In the end it was a straight fight between a Golf, Volvo XC40, and the C-HR, with the Toyota coming out on top with a strong deal through CarWow from Fish Bros Toyota in Swindon.

Previous to Lexus, I had three Honda in a row (Accord, then 2xCR-V) and for anybody that used to be on the long dead Accord Owners Club / HondaKarma forum I used to be First_Honda - I’m clearly a creature of habit 😁.

Anyway, looking forward to getting involved here, probably with lots of questions as delivery day approaches. I should add that back in the 1970s my late Father was something of an ‘early adopter’ of Toyota after the local garage switched from being a Ford dealer, having his first Corona in the early 1970s, then a Cressida estate in 1979 and later a Crown in about 1982, so fair to say with the Toyota brand I go way back! I remember those cars very fondly…at a time when most people had Ford - Vauxhall - BL, Japanese cars were seen as quite an unusual choice.

I also have a 2004 MINI Cooper in the garage which I’ve owned from new, had lots of Minis over the years too.

Hi Ed and welcome to the forum. Having had numerous cars since 1972 and, whilst I appreciate that things improve (?) over time, I got my first Toyota, a Corolla, in 2020. I then got a Yaris Cross 14 months ago, but switched to the C-HR Mk2 in May. I can honestly say that the C-HR is the best Toyota I have had and, probably, the best car I have ever had, with the exception possibly of a Sunbeam Rapier H120 .

Had a notification from the Toyota App today that the build of my CH-R is in progress at the factory in Turkey.

Exciting times, feels like it should be on track for October as promised…perhaps earlier?

Notification this morning that the build is complete and the car has left the factory! The internet tells me shipping time to UK should be about fifteen days so it seems like I’m well on track for early October delivery…🥳

Welcome to the TOC forums, Ed!

You're almost on verge of behaving like a child with their newest toy, Ed!! 😅 😂 I can feel your excitement!! It's palpable!! 😅 Congratulations on the choice of Toyota and the make/model.  Can't wait to hear of your experiences with the new "whip" (as I hear the young ones call their cars these days).

Cheers!
