If you have any rattling from plastic interior covers these maybe because of fixing clips been put of the base hole made on the plastic. Often when reinstalling these interior plastics those white clips missing, or remained on the bodywork and then the cover been placed on top it will rattle afterwards.
To check you need to remove the whole panel, inspect all clips are correctly positioned into the panel and reattach the panel back, make sure all clips clicked in properly. 👌

any easy way to get the panel off ? or is it a case of easing up one edge and working around ... bit nervous of bogging it up

Anchorman is your source of information about these cars.
He tears them apart and he knows exactly how to. For the A pillar there is specific way to do it. You need a plastic interior remover tool, these are must have when working on interior cards and covers.
Here there are tons of valuable information.

Just read a great long thread to find out what you were referring to!   The speaker grilled does come off but I doubt it’s that.  I’ve had a couple of Yari that have rattled fron there.  They both were fixed by packing the bottom of the A Pillar trim with felt.  To test the theory, cut a piece of cardboard box about 50mm square and push it down the bottom of the trim (the one that goes down the side of the window) and if that fixes it you can cut it down to about 20mm and just push it out of sight.  If you want to be posh you can stick felt on but getting the trim off isn’t for the feint hearted.

you can cure the odd rattle completely by buying a Peugeot 2008 like I had on hols.  It’s like the percussion section of the BBC Symphony Orchestra when it goes over a bump.  What a pile of carp.

So you put the card between the windscreen and the A pillar - so it's sandwiched between the glass and the plastic?

I was just about to try and remove the centre speaker grill - but I stopped as it seems very difficult to remove.

No between the top of the facia and the bottom of the A Pillar.   Next to that tweeter grill.  I’m not sure if that centre grill comes out.  You can usually tell if it’s a separate piece.   It probably is if it has a speaker under it.

The centre grill does come out but it need care - its secured by a v shaped clip at each corner, beneath is a speaker with a foam circle around its circumference. Mine was def rattling and not 100% flush. found the easiest way to get it out was with a Phone repair tool kit that has a thin scraper used for separating the case on mobile phones. That sorted some of the rattle. the main remaining one is on the A-Pillar, but not at the base - its loose around a 1/3 of the way up and resonates at a particular speed and road surface....if you tap along it you can feel its not firm at that point  The piece of cardboard idea is great, thanks - I'll give that a go.  image.thumb.png.27d6fb2c6838431812190c4e46bb6a23.png

Yeh.....I stopped when I got a slight mark on the grill side......

@anchorman - what thickness card would you recommend? Business card size or thicker?

Kelloggs.  Only use an Aldi cornflake box on French cars but you’ll need to fold them multiple times.   True story, my MkIV Yaris rattled there and I got the mrs to shove a fuel receipt in it.  Despite numerous promises to myself to do something more permanent, it was in there rattle free until the day I sold it.  I loved that little car.

Theres foam between the windscreen and dash everywhere except the right and left extremes.

Would adding more foam tape that (draught excluder type) help with rattles and vibrations? - that's a bit wider and puts a slight  bit of pressure on the dash?

The edges of the dash next to windscreen when tapping seems to tap on the support underneath.

I don’t know if you need to go to that extent.  Did you do the A Pillar trims?

Yes, but it seems the rattle/vibration is more from the middle in front or around the windscreen vent - as though the duct is vibrating on the dash or the dash at that area is vibrating on window maybe.

Seems more on slightly rough but smooth roads but not over speedbumps of potholes - so vibrational frequency from tyres/road maybe

Your profile says it’s a 2025 model which unless your name is Marty Mcfly, it definitely isn’t.  Has it had a screen fitted?

It's the latest version of the Yaris Cross.

I only have 500 miles on it, nothing additional fitted.

Has it had glossy dash treatment applied at the dealer.  That stuff will make a Bentley creak.

It did have interior fabric protection but no clue on dash treatment. It's more of a fast plastic / plastic vibration over rougher roads.

It stops if you apply pressure to the dash?

Yes - if I press the dash at front near the windshield vent - it stops.

I don't want to risk them making more issues by taking the dash out - I'd rather see if If there's something simple first, which is non invasive - or at least try and pinpoint it a bit. (Been burnt with a previous car where a different dealer made one rattle turn into 26 others ... )

If it's not something that can be done by me, then I will be getting them involved (but this is a last resort).

100% with you on that.  What happens if you fold sone cardboard and back it in the gap?  Be careful because you can sometimes post stuff right down that gap.  If it works, you can think about something more permanent.

If either of us determines the cause, let's post it here 😄

OK, so have some success in stopping the rattles.

Firstly, worked in some black 5mm plastic tube sections between the A-Pillar and the windscreen on both sides which hold it firm. I would say that eliminated 90% of the rattles.

Secondly got a strip of 3/4" backer rod (c £12 off amazon) and worked it down between the top of the dash and the wind screen to stop the front of the dash vibrating. Invisible once its in.

Made such a difference to how much I enjoy driving the car without chasing those annoying buzzes and rattles around.... hope that helps anyone with the same issues.

I may even celebrate by turning the radio back on 😀

also, I noticed on mine that sometimes the mirror cover if it's slightly moved on any of the sun visors it does make a horrible rattling noise! Annoyingly I thought its coming from my A pillar.... but nope🤣 So that's something to look out for
