Hi everyone, I've noticed on my 2019 hatch that when the car has been stationary for a few hours and I get in , if I turn the steering wheel slightly I hear a knock , engine running or not , it does it once only , does not do it whilst driving , strange I know but just wanted to know if anyone else had this ??? Cars done just 19,050 miles , full dealer service history luckily .......thanks , Dave

It might be normal but we need to see. Hear it to make a judgment.
Toyota cars are full of squeaking, rattling, knocking and clicking noises from everywhere, steering column, seats, door cards, dashboard, seatbelts, suspension,

Honestly, mine has been pretty quiet for close to 3 years of ownership except for the confounded tapping from the boot area that I just can't seem to track down. It doesn't stop until I've removed everything from the back end, even the boot floor. So then I start adding stuff back, one-by-one, but then the damn noise doesn't come back until I've put everything back in!🤬🤣

Thanks.

This is very typical for all cars and particularly Toyota.
Perhaps a  cv joint along the steering shaft there are two of these , or  just a dry splints on the telescopic part for rake adjustment and some pressure has releases. If this is only the issue you have and no other rattling noises or clicking you can just check the bolts of the shafts are tightened to specs and just leave it. My car does the same, plus the usual knocking ( clicking ) since it was almost new and I never bothered to repair. It’s just a typical Toyota thing , not a safety issue or a big problem. 👍

Thanks Tony , good to know ( or bad ) that yours does the same , I'm going to keep it serviced at Toyota so if it turns out major it'll be covered , thanks again for your replies !
