Jimlad Vs Ferrari .....

Recommended Posts

I'm thinking the Ferrari driver just didnt want stone chips on his luverly blue paint.

Jimlad.. I know you car is rapid and I'm sure you would push your 1990 MR2 to the limits to show the rich dude that you have !Removed!. Would you drive your prize Ferrari the same way to show up an MR2 owner... I wouldnt!

but then you could say the same about a dude in a Saxo thinkin the same when looking at Jimlads car! :P

we all know torque = acceleration, I bet Jims car has more or the same as the 360 :)

yip... true

I've noticed, it only seems to be the MR2 owners that seem to believe Jim!

Posted

maybe it's because we know what the mr2 is capable of ??....

Posted

perhaps..

or maybe is just dilluision... similar to what saxo owners suffer from ;)

well my neighbour said his 360 is slower than his old rx7, and generally people say that modded 2's usually end up faster than modded rx7's.

must remember the italians lie about how much power their cars make :)

I like Ferrari's, don't get me wrong .. but I'm under no illusions they are "all that" ..

Knew a bloke who got one of these drive a 355 for a day things from boots .. said it was the worst thing ever because he loved the 355 until he drive it ..

But saying that his MR2 was about 350 bhp then .. and now it'll be over 500

Lol...well I say well done Jim...most %$(ers who own ferraris can't drive em properly anyway.

I'm thinkin it was more likely a 355...cos they aren't all that and a decently tuned up MR2 with a decent driver would take one. I had a 360 on the M23 the other day and he was QUICK...this guy was in a rush and I had absolutely no chance of keepin with him. He started behind me from a distance and I was flooring it...he just zipped past me like i was doin 70 (which I wasn't ;)).

Erm ferraris are overrated IMO gimme a well tuned r33 any day (rawer than r34 IMO) would kill a ferrari.

I'm just waitin till I finally rebuild my bottom end and whack a nice gt30 or streetbrawler 50trim with extras on with an ems and start eatin ferraris lol

Keep it up Jimlad show the heathens and the masses that the Tubby is not to be trifled with ;)

Engine work should never be finished!!! ;)

knowing me it'll probably never be finished....

but stage 1 ( we'll call it that ) ... lol ... should be done by next summer. Don't see much point in doing it at the mo when winter is coming.

My mate from Nissan is bringing 5 Rev3/4 engines in from Japan through one of his contacts... one for me!

It's being blueprinted, ported/polished and matched ports, ported (gas flowed) inlet manifold, lowered compression, metal head gasket, increased baffle in sump and increased sump capacity, oil jets for underside of pistons, balanced crank, increased boost (1.5bar), chargecooler... and all necessary work. Basically race speccing the engine like he race specs Skylines. Still waiting for delivery though. :crybaby:

oooooooooh...... sounds like fun !!

I'll be going Charge Cooler, Head Gasket, Forgies, Big Turbo (not sure what yet), WI, Larger Injectors.

I would ideally want a 2.2 Stroker Kit and a 6 speed gearbox also.

Anything else worth getting done at the same time ? ... I'm a bit of a spoon when it comes to engines.

2.2 stroker kit is a good idea... it should be more torquey.

Not sure you'd need water injection as well as chargecooler. Chargecooler should keep your charge temps more than low enough for the boost you'd look at running.

Not sure on the 6 speed box. Depends what your final drive would be, and what it would actually give you through the gears as a benefit.

Definitely get the inlet manifold opened up, and gas flowed. Needs to be re-welded back together, so cut it where you can still reach afterwards to 'polish' out the weld marks inside. No point polishing and porting the head etc if you're still limited by the quality of air flow from the inlet manifold. Might be worth getting an equal length manifold fabricated, and also external wastegate... but you could go on and on, depending on how big your wallet is.

I know my mate is race speccing these engines and selling them on, but they'll be staying as 2 litre units. He track prepares Skylines... he knows what he's doing, and he's got well into the 3S-GTE with my engine... he does refer to it as our car though! <_<

We've waited a while for the engines now as the guy at the other end keeps needing to get the conversation translated!!!
